Al-Aqsa Mosque under siege
The Islamic Jihad's statement further touched on the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli forces and settlers, saying they are playing with fire by limiting the movement and access of worshipers to this holy place, against which, we and the free people of the world will not stand idly by.
Since October 7, Israel has imposed near blanket restrictions on the entry of Palestinians to Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied al-Quds, denying access to Muslim worshipers to the holy site.
On Sunday night, Israeli forces denied hundreds of worshipers’ entry into the mosque on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Al Jazeera, Palestinian worshipers faced severe restrictions, with the occupation forces seen preventing Palestinian youth from entering to perform evening prayers.
This report added that the Zionist regime deployed thousands of police forces in al-Quds on Sunday night and arrested at least 20 Palestinians citing suspicion of provocative actions.
At the entrances of the mosque, the soldiers allow only men over 40 years old to enter the Islam’s third holiest site.
Last month, a far-right extremist politician and a member of the coalition cabinet presented a controversial plan asking the regime to a curb on Palestinians entering into Al-Aqsa during Ramadan.
Israeli forces are implementing the plan despite Zionist media reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the decision amid warnings from internal spy agency Shin Bet that such action could spark religious tensions in al-Quds.
